"Handcuffed and shackled’: US deports 104 Indians in military aircraft like criminals. Indian govt silent

While the country was busy watching the assembly election in Delhi, an American military aircraft landed in Amritsar carrying 104 deported illegal Indian immigrants.

Indians have been deported from the US earlier too, but this time they were sent in military aircraft like criminals. Pictures of the American media show Indians handcuffed and shackled with their heads bowed down. Indian media was not allowed to cover the landing of military aircraft at Amritsar.

 

As news of the deportation broke a few hours ago, pictures of people sitting in handcuffs began to circulate on social media with claims that they depicted the Indian immigrants who were being flown out of the United States.

 The U.S. action came just days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Washington for wide-ranging talks with President Donald Trump

 One picture shows men in handcuffs  with chains around their ankles and face masks obscuring their faces. Another shows a row of men walking with hands cuffed behind their backs.

 The pics generated outrage on social media. “Handcuffed and chained by the legs, Indians are returning to Amrit Kaal. I have never seen this sight ever!” read one post on X.

 Deportees who arrived on a US aircraft in Amritsar on Wednesday said their hands and legs were shackled throughout the journey, with the restraints removed only after landing.
